Former residents and teachers of the Austin Bikram scene, Gianna, Afton, Kathy, Erin, and LiFi found each other as our Yoga Nerd Home-base. We are meeting up to share what we have been inspired by since then and to celebrate our former home. Exact times TBA

Spend your Friday night raising money for and connecting with your queer community!
This benefit event is meant to bring the LGBTQ+ community and allies who are in or interested in the wellness community together and raise money for Yoga Unbound. Yoga Unbound promotes health and wellbeing to the LGBTQ+ and POC community by providing accessible yoga classes rooted in social justice.
The evening will include 2 yoga class experiences, and two lectures, sponsored beverages from the CLEAN CAUSE, and support from Austin Black Pride and other local LGBTQ+ small businesses.

An international yoga teacher with 15 years in the teaching and coaching world Gianna has over 1,500 hours in intensive training with Bikram yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa, Rocket, Bhakti, Yoga Anatomy, and traditional Hatha Yoga techniques. She travels around spreading and making accessible the vast practices of yoga and wellness, leading classes, workshops, retreats, and trainings all over the world. “My focus is to help people see the potential within and develop excitement for unleashing your natural ability to heal.” She founded the Siddhi School of Yoga, the Maha Hatha Sadhana practice, and co-founded Queer Retreats LLC, which provides a safe space for wellness vacations for the LGBTQ+ community.

Fresh, motivated, and innovative Artist and Yoga Teacher with training in Hatha Vinyasa Yoga + Rocket Yoga + Anatomy. With over 1000 hours of yoga, movement, and anatomy instruction under my belt I continue to be a student of life always. I personally care about inspiring others to adopt a healthy physical practice and lifestyle that suits them. My main commitment to my students is to instruct various ways of alignment, healing, and community building while providing an enjoyable atmosphere and education. I am a yogi-prenuer, creator of Tierra.Denae, The Disconnect Retreat, and Creative Services Director of Samadhi Yoga Retreat. I facilitate and host Retreats, workshops, teacher training education, private yoga events and wellness sessions.

Erica Alcocer is a queer non binary femme living and studying at University of Texas at San Antonio. Her focuses are radical social and self awareness, LGBTQ+ youth, sex and gender education, inclusive language, creating community centered in liberation for colonized folks, bringing attention to navigating spaces with intersectionality and inclusion in mind. Erica currently studies at UTSA with a double major in Spanish + Mexican American Studies with a minor in Women’s Studies. She is also a 2019 Presidential Inclusive Excellence Scholar and receiver of the Linda J. Rasmussen Memorial Annual Scholarship in Women's Studies at UTSA. Erica is the Youth Facilitator at Fiesta Youth in San Antonio. During her time at Fiesta Youth she developed an LGBTQ+ Awareness Training she presents to organizations, schools, businesses and creates programming for LGBTQ+ youth. Erica also dabbles in jewelry design, event production, live performance, and djing.
This long weekend is meant for teacher and students to gather in a space for growth and exploration. All classes and workshops are for all leveled practitioners. All sessions are meant to be casual and communal to make sure you leave with a better understanding of your body and its potential.

Over three days, teachers are taken through 8 hours of continuing education. Teachers will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their class, break down the postures they know, learn the anatomy and cueing of new poses, practice traditional hatha techniques, learn meditation and pranayama practices to stay centered as a teacher, and refine their teaching methods.
A teacher of traditional hatha practices, gianna’s series of workshops will entail variations of what makes up the entirety of hatha yoga. These classes are meant for all levels, combine asana, pranayama, kriya, mantra, mudra, and meditation.
3 hour Maha Hatha Sadhana
90 minute psychic development class
2 hour maha hatha - inversions and strength
2 hour maha hatha - backbends and twists
Gianna will be spending time in Miami for a little chunk of September to teach Maha Hatha, 26&2 Hot Yoga, and 2 Hour yoga on Original Hot Yoga 305’s public schedule.
Maha Hatha 9:30 - 11am
This all leveled class takes practitioners through the classic maha hatha practice, touching on all body movements and to offer and adventurous approach to healing in the hot room
Maha Hatha Sadhana 10-2pm
Venturing further into the depths of the asanas, breath work, and meditation, this sadhana or deep practice is where all students can see what the process of progressions physically and energetically feels like.
Over the course of two hours, students are taken through a warm up to introduce the body mechanics necessary to start inverting and play with the a variety of hand halances.

12:30-2:30 Bikram Alignment workshop:
This workshop will cover concepts and themes that are woven through class to make attainable ways for students to practice and advance their 26&2 understanding.
3-5 Progressive Hatha Class:
This class is for all levels and adds perspective to where the 26&2 starts you, where it can go, and training techniques to help the body open in different ways for the next steps in your yoga evolution. There is always something to do no matter your practice level.
In 300 hours, you will learn to teach the classic 26+2 hot yoga series. Our team of asana and anatomy experts, including Gianna Purcell, Kathy Durham and Erin Frank will provide you with the tools you need to effectively deliver a precise, informative, and therapeutic class. Alignment, benefits, and language for safely presenting the postures will be covered as well as teaching techniques and methodology, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy and ethics, and the business of yoga with practical application.

A true journey through india, we will travel by plane, bus, train, and tuk tuk to venture towards a long stay deep in the Himalayas.
Rishikesh, on the banks of the mother Ganga river, surrounded on three sides by the Himalayan ranges., is one of the great pilgrimage centers of India. Here we will partake in ayurvedic practed and treatments, practice daily yoga asana and meditation, sit for arati prayer, and integrate with the community and culture.
This trip includes visits to Delhi, Agra, Rishikesh, and Haridwar., is meant to bring you to experience authentic India, enjoy hatha yoga, and play with the greater practices of yogic living. Our maximum number of participants is 12, allowing for an intimate experience.
